For over 10 years, there were two World Champions in the WWE. At the conclusion of the TLC PPV, Randy Orton became the sole World Champion of the company.

Orton beat John Cena in a TLC match to unify both the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles. He will be known as the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but the second ever WWE wrestler to unify two World Titles. The first WWE wrestler to unify two World Titles was of course Chris Jericho who had to defeat The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night.

The most surprising thing about the match was that Orton won cleanly over Cena. There was no outside interference nor was there any reverse decision from The Authority either. Orton won pretty much fair and square and Cena had nothing else to do but stare in disbelief. Orton winning cleanly was unexpected considering he’s been booked to be a cowardly heel over the past few months or so.

Orton will now be referred to as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It’s unknown if WWE will create a new belt, or if Orton has to parade around with two belts much like Jericho had to back in 2002. In either case, there is only one World Champion and I’m sure the rest of the roster will be targeting Orton to get the belt off of him.

As for Cena, he’ll just have to ask for a rematch or go on to face someone else. He cannot complain since he lost to Orton cleanly and nobody else interfered in the match.
