With the recent appearances that Shawn Michaels is making, is he going to wrestle in one more match?
Unlike Edge or Stone Cold Steve Austin, Michaels retired while he was still healthy. He suffered a back injury back in 1998, but returned in 2002 to wrestle full-time again. Since then, he hasn’t had any major injury to speak of. The only reason he retired back in 2010 was to spend more time with his family.
It’s totally plausible for Michaels to get inside the ring for one last time. The Undertaker is the same age as Michaels and he usually wrestles at least one match per year. Not to mention, retirements in professional wrestling never stick. Mick Foley “retired” in 2000 only to wrestle again a month later. Ric Flair “retired” in 2008 but he wrestled again in TNA just a year later.
Right now, the WWE wants Michaels to return for one more match to face off against his protege Daniel Bryan. This would be an epic match to see, and fans would pay top dollar for it. WWE teased that Michaels could face CM Punk too, although Punk is more likely to face Triple H at WrestleMania XXX instead.
The WWE will need Michaels to wrestle since it’s unlikely that the Rock can wrestle at WrestleMania XXX. Another name they want is Hulk Hogan, but his body is too old to wrestle. Michaels is the only outside attraction they can get who is both healthy and has enough free time to wrestle at WrestleMania XXX.
