As many people assumed months ago, the Rock will be unable to attend or wrestle at WrestleMania XXX.
Rock tweeted the news in response to a fan question, saying that it’s very unlikely he’ll be able to wrestle at WrestleMania XXX. He said the original plan was for him to face off against Brock Lesnar at the event. This match was actually going to teased on the Raw after WrestleMania 29. This didn’t happen because Rock got injured and did not attend Raw that night.
Because of the Rock’s injury, he’s been hesitant to step inside the ring, although he did hint that he might be available again for WrestleMania 31 in 2015. Lesnar’s contract with the WWE expires in the same year, so this could mean Lesnar vs. Rock could happen at WrestleMania 31 instead.
It’s also very unlikely that the Rock will be able to actually make any appearances for the WWE in 2014. He’s got a lot on his plate right now as he’s filming an upcoming TV series plus a new film called San Andreas. He’ll have to shoot more scenes for Fast and Furious 7 later this year too, as the film got delayed due to Paul Walker‘s untimely death.
The Rock will also have to promote Hercules: The Thracian Wars later this year. There are even rumors of him starring in the huge Batman vs. Superman movie.
It seems as if WWE already knows the Rock’s Hollywood commitments, which is why they’re planning on having Lesnar face the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX. If that match doesn’t happen, they could always have the dream match of Lesnar vs. Batista instead.
