WWE Main Event Should Not Have Jobbers Headlining

In 2012, the WWE created a new show called Main Event. The headliners of the show had their own interviews and video package talking about the match that was featured exclusively on Main Event. The very first match on the show saw the World Heavyweight champion Sheamus taking on WWE Champion CM Punk. How could you not get excited about the show?

This format only lasted for some months and then went away. Main Event has now turned into a new Superstars-style show. What happened, and why did it happen?

I still watch and cover Main Event on a weekly basis. I have been doing that for a couple of months, and have noticed that Main Event has lost its format and its life. Main Event is not a must-see show on Wednesday night’s anymore. It has become a lost program with no real directions or storylines at all.

Yeah, we get good matches here and there, but what happened? This is the problem with the WWE — one day they are behind something, and the next they are not.

This week on Main Event, we had Los Matadores and El Torito taking on 3MB as the headliner. I was the type of guy who had a bit of faith that the WWE could turn Main Event around, but I am now understanding that it will never happen. As Damien Sandow says, “You’re Welcome”.
