Royal Rumble 2014 Needs A New And Meaningful Winner

The past Royal Rumble winners in recent years have been duds. It’s about time we get a winner who deserves it.

Last year’s Royal Rumble seemed like a huge waste of time. Royal Rumble winners should be for new wrestlers that are getting pushed to the main event scene. In the past, wrestlers like Yokozuna, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin got their big breaks after winning the Royal Rumble.

The most recent fairytale Royal Rumble winner was Rey Mysterio back in 2006. Mysterio dedicated his victory to Eddie Guerrero and then went on to become the World Champion at WrestleMania 22. Undertaker won the Royal Rumble the year after, and his victory was cool because he had never won the match in his long career.

Every Royal Rumble winner after 2007 seemed hollow and unnecessary. John Cena, Randy Orton and Edge won the Rumbles in 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively. I felt these guys’ victories were not needed because they were WWE and World Champions multiple times before they won the Royal Rumble. These guys didn’t need to win it to establish their star power.

2011 and 2012 had Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus as winners. These two are boring, and fans didn’t take too kindly to their victories. In my opinion, CM Punk should have won in 2011 and Chris Jericho would have been a better winner than Sheamus in 2012.

2013 had probably the worst winner because Cena won it again. At that point Cena accomplished everything already and didn’t need to win the Royal Rumble again. Someone like Ryback or even Dolph Ziggler should have won it that year.

2014 should have a winner that people like, and it should also be someone who hasn’t won before. Lots of people want Daniel Bryan to win, and he deserves it after all of the things he has gone through in 2013. Something tells me he won’t win and WWE will choose Batista as the winner even though he already won it back in 2005.
