WWE Needs To Make Up Its Mind With New Age Outlaws
As someone who grew up in the Attitude Era and who watched the New Age Outlaws in their prime, it is really cool to not only see them back on a weekly basis, but that they’re doing so as the world tag team champions. They are one of the greatest tag teams of all time and most likely future Hall-of-Famers down the road. They are also six-time tag team champions.
The problem, however, is that while the WWE wants them to act likes heels when they are wrestling and being part of storylines, they play to the crowd way too much when they are making their way to the ring. There is a huge difference in both roles. Not only does it not make sense, but it is hard for a viewer to decide, “do I like these guys or do I hate these guys?” For a wrestling promotion that has been in business for 50 years. That is a problem.
The New Age Outlaws are one of the most popular groups in the history of pro wrestling. They will get over whether the company uses them as good guys or bad guys. They can be on the “Authority” side and be heels, or they can do their usual entrance and be good guys. It’s wrestling 101, but something needs to change to make them stand out so the fans are rooting out of confusion.
