WWE Still Cautious About CM Punk Situation

WWE has been kind of smart not putting too much attention to the whole situation involving CM Punk.

The one reason I think they’re playing this smart is because they don’t want to anger both the fans or even Punk himself. The only things they have done right now is confiscate “CM Punk” signs and edited him out of advertisements and promos.

I remember back in 2002 when Stone Cold Steve Austin did the same thing and some wrestlers took shots at Austin. Vince McMahon addressed Austin’s walk out inside the ring, and guys like The Rock and Triple H even mocked Austin for walking out. The fans were more forgiving back then, and Austin and everyone else buried the hatchet when he returned in early 2003.

If WWE were to address the Punk situation now, the fans would boo and even boycott the company. Let’s imagine Triple H getting inside the ring and mocking Punk for walking out. The fans would become angry and boo him to no end. The fans were even vocal before he walked out when they realized Daniel Bryan was not in the Royal Rumble.

I feel that WWE is wanting to keep the situation was quiet as possible until McMahon makes some sort of deal for Punk to come back. This is smart because they’ve got the WWE Network releasing later this month and WrestleMania XXX is in April. If fans are offended they might not even pay up for the WWE Network or WrestleMania XXX.

As I’ve mentioned before, the best solution is to bring Punk back for one more match and then let him retire or take a break. If that happens, the fans would respect Punk’s decision and won’t boycott WWE at the same time either.

Right now all that WWE can do right now is to handle this whole situation professionally and quietly until a solution is found.
