Hulk Hogan has officially been announced as being a part of WrestleMania XXX this year.

It has been rumored for many months now, but now the announcement has been made official. The WWE revealed that Hogan will be the “Host of WrestleMania”, which is the same role the Rock had at WrestleMania 27. The initial plans for Hogan was for him to wrestle in a tag team match with John Cena. They were to face Roddy Piper and another heel wrestler. Piper wanted CM Punk to be his partner, but I don’t think Punk would have accepted role in the first place anyway.

This match was scrapped because Hogan’s body is too broken down to be involved a match at all. The WWE is taking things very seriously now and did’t want to risk Hogan getting injured if he were to compete in a match of any kind.

I’m just hoping Hogan can be an effective “host” without hogging too much TV time. WrestleMania 27 was horrible with time management as the Rock took a lot of TV time from other matches on the card. Not to mention, the card itself was horrible anyway. Hopefully Hogan’s segments at WrestleMania XXX aren’t too long so there is enough time for decent matches.

Hogan will be returning to the WWE on the February 24 show of Raw. This is the day the WWE Network launches and the company wants all of the exposure it can get. Hogan’s presence on Raw might help older fans to tune in and make them purchase the WWE Network. After all, the network includes every PPV beginning at 1985. Even if you are not a fan of the current product, you can watch all the old matches when you buy the WWE Network.
