Marquee Matches Set For WrestleMania XXX

Hulk Hogan Back In WWE

The WWE didn’t waste any time cementing the top of the card for WrestleMania XXX. After an eventful Monday Night Raw from Green Bay, Wisconsin, two matches are already official for the biggest show of the year, with two other matches all but confirmed.

Randy Orton vs. Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is officially going to happen. Many believed this match might not take place given the tremendously negative fan reaction Batista has received since returning to the squared circle. Orton isn’t winning any popularity contests himself as of late, and this match has the potential to be extremely memorable … for all the wrong reasons. Barring a miracle, everyone in New Orleans is going to loathe this contest. Both wrestlers are undoubtedly at a loss as to what can be done to save it.

On the bright side, Brock Lesnar will officially challenge the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX. In an awesome segment which closed Monday Night Raw, Undertaker accepted Lesnar’s open challenge to anyone on the roster. However, instead of signing the contract for the match, Undertaker stabbed Lesnar’s hand with a pen and chokeslammed him through a table set up in the ring as Paul Heyman watched in horror. That wasn’t what the pen and table were intended for, but something like this always happens during contract signings, doesn’t it? If the WWE has a shred of sanity, this will be the main event on Apr. 6.

Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H is unofficial but highly likely for ‘Mania. Bryan and Hunter had a brief altercation on Monday Night Raw, and later in the show Bryan claimed the Game backed away from his challenge to a match at the granddaddy of ‘em all.  Bryan cut a promo saying the fans want Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXX. Not sure about that one, but they politely chanted “YES!” anyway. It’s only a matter of time before this match is made official.

It’s fairly evident after watching Raw that John Cena will square off with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. The Wyatt Family cost Cena a chance to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber, and on Monday they continued their harassment by triple-teaming big John and laying him out. After the attack, Cena had to be carted away in an ambulance and his left knee was heavily wrapped. Bray later tweeted, “The golden calf has been sent out to pasture….. Can you still see him?” Once again, it’s only a matter of time.

So there you have it folks. The top four matches for WrestleMania XXX are all but set in stone. Is the card worthy of such a prominent event? That’s for you to decide.
