WrestleMania XXX Lacks A Strong Mid-Card

It appears that the full card for WrestleMania XXX is complete and the event’s mid-card is looking pretty weak.

The mid-card for WrestleMania XXX lacks something fans can sink their teeth into. The biggest problem with this year’s WrestleMania is that a lot of talented guys are being wasted on the 30-man Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Battle Royal matches are hardly exciting to watch because wrestlers are unable to do much in the ring. With all 30-men in the ring at the same time, it’s hard for anyone to really stand out and do anything interesting.

The WWE has a strong roster at the moment, but isn’t doing much with them. Guys like Dolph Ziggler, Damien Sandow, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and others could have strong mid-card matches. Sadly, all of them are just chucked into this one match. This is one of the reasons why only having one World Champion is a problem since there is no proper storyline for mid-card guys to have.

Why are the Shield stuck with fighting Kane and the New Age Outlaws? Those three old guys should be no threat to the Shield whatsoever. It seems like a waste (again) that young talent like the Shield have to wrestle old guys. I do like Kane, but he’s been a jobber for months now. As for Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, they’re only on the WrestleMania card because they’re Triple H‘s buddies.

Now there is a overbooked 15-diva title match. Much like the Battle Royal, the WWE is just chucking everyone into one match. I like the fact that lots of people will get a chance to wrestle at WrestleMania XXX, but multi-person matches are usually boring because nothing compelling really happens in them. The 15-minute AJ Lee and Natalya match from Main Event the other week could have been an excellent WrestleMania XXX match.

Lastly, there’s the Fatal 4 Way tag-team title match. This includes the Usos, Los Matadores, Ryback and Curtis Axel, and the Real Americans. This is probably the only decent mid-card match. Still, it’s disappointing that Cody Rhodes and Goldust are not in this match. They’re stuck in the Battle Royal for no good reason.
