In a move that many people expected, the WWE announced in a press release that the WWE Tag Team Championship match, originally scheduled to be a part of the main card at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, will instead take place on the pre-show.

This year there will be two hours of pre-show leading to the main card. The first hour will be available to the general public through various social media websites starting at 5 p.m. ET. The second hour of the pre-show will take place exclusively on the WWE Network starting at 6 p.m. ET. You can read more about this here.

The match involves the Usos defending their tag titles against the Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Cesaro), Rybaxel (Ryback and Curtis Axel) and Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) in a four-way tag match. As far as we know, this is not an elimination match, and will be contested with one fall to a finish.

This is not a pleasant update. Obviously, matches on pre-shows do not get anywhere near the exposure as matches on the main card. This is especially true this year, as the pre-show match will take place exclusively on the WWE Network. In past years pre-show matches have been available to the general public through websites such as YouTube and Facebook.

It’s especially disappointing for the Usos and the Real Americans, particularly Cesaro. Cesaro has gained a lot of steam in 2014 and many fans were excited to see him work his magic on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Similarly, the Usos have worked their way up the ladder and have become quite the popular and exciting team.

The tag match will undoubtedly be a better contest than both the Andre the Giant Battle Royal and the Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational. However, with Hulk Hogan throwing his support behind the battle royal it was doubtful that would be moved to the pre-show. We also know how much the WWE loves getting the divas on the main card, so perhaps the tag title bout was doomed from the start.

This leaves us with only seven matches on the main card. It’s hard to envision filling a four-hour broadcast with only seven matches, so it’s possible that another match will be added to WrestleMania tonight on Monday Night Raw. If not, we may be in store for a lot of hideous skits and other such maladies on Apr. 6. Hopefully it all works out for the better.
