Stone Cold Steve Austin has the internet abuzz with CM Punk talk once again. Rumors regarding the BITW had settled down after he failed to appear in his hometown of Chicago on a recent episode of Raw. Once he didn’t show there, most fans came to the conclusion that he was really gone from the company.
It’s said that only Punk, Triple H and Vince McMahon know the real story and what the future will hold. But with Stone Cold’s latest comments, Punk return rumors are back with a vengeance:
Here’s what SCSA said during his latest podcast:
“It’s been a long time, I think he’s cooled his jets, he’s got some rest, and I think it’s time to get back to work. I don’t see him participating in a match but it would be great to see him in a run-in to establish himself, to entrench himself immediately in a memorable and just a great moment, and I would say plant himself firmly in the middle of an angle, because he would be the angle, by attacking whoever he sees fit to attack or asserting his presence rather, whatever the case may be.”
Is this scenario possible? Absolutely. Is it likely to happen? I don’t think so.
I think a Punk return at WrestleMania 30 would be great for business, but it’s just not realistic. Unless this whole thing has been an elaborate plan from day one, I don’t see him coming back two months after he declared he’d had enough. Punk is very hard-headed and if he’s mad at WWE or burnt out, it’s going to be a lot longer before we see him in the ring again.
Hopefully, Stone Cold is right. It would be great to see Punk return and then turn heel by costing Daniel Bryan the WWE title. That’s a dream booking situation. But it’s almost a ‘too perfect’ situation. The likely reality is that we won’t see Punk on WWE television for many more months, if ever again.
