WrestleMania 30 Success

WWE set a record with the number of USA households that were watching WrestleMania XXX earlier this month.

WrestleMania XXX was the first Pay-Per-View to be streamed live on the WWE Network. Not only that, but ordering the PPV via cable providers was also available for those who wanted to watch the event the traditional way.

WWE announced already that there are currently more than 667,000 WWE Network subscribers in the USA alone. WWE has revealed today that nearly 400,000 households in the USA bought the PPV via traditional means. All up, over 1 million American households watched WrestleMania XXX. That is a huge number.

The WWE Network is not available yet outside of the USA. WWE didn’t provide a buyrate for international customers, but WrestleMania usually gets around 400,000 buys overseas. With around possibly 800,000 PPV buys and over 667,000 subscribers, a potential 1.4 million homes tuned in to watch WrestleMania XXX worldwide this year.

In the long run, it’s possible more and more people will order the WWE Network as they will save money. I’m surprised 400,000 American homes still purchased WrestleMania XXX for $59.99. If they bought the WWE Network, they pay the same price, but also get the other PPVs that WWE will produce in the next six months.

This should come as good news for WWE nonetheless. The stock price actually increased by 3% following this announcement. WWE will get a lot more WWE Network subscribers next year once it hits in more countries. WrestleMania XXXI could potentially be more successful since more people will be aware of the WWE Network by then.
