After Seth Rollins' betrayal last Monday on RAW, the Shield will need to recruit a new member if they are to survive. The question is: who does the Shield get to replace Rollins?
Daniel Bryan makes sense as a replacement. He's got an endless motor, aerial skills and is fearless, much like Rollins. Plus, he's an underdog who has conquered all to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He and Seth Rollins are very similar in some regards, but in this case, he and the Shield share a more important similarity: their backs are against the wall. Sadly, his injury takes him out of the equation.
Chances: 0 percent
Neville is probably the greatest high-flyer that the WWE has, so inserting him in where Rollins once was would be a perfect fit. Neville would bring astounding talent and groundbreaking excitement to the main roster. However, he's the NXT champion and NXT needs him to stay put for now.
Chances: 10 percent
Baron Corbin is one of my sleeper picks to replace Rollins and is one of Triple H's favorites from NXT. He's got size, strength, agility, a great look and an appealing personality. He wouldn't be the same type of athlete Rollins was for the Shield, but would assure their continued dominance. Having such a great prospect move up would be good for everyone. The only issue? He may show up Reigns too much for the WWE's liking.
Chances: 15 percent
Corey Graves has disappeared from NXT screens, which gives him good odds of being repackaged into something greater. Graves doesn't seem likely to want to join a team, but setting aside his own desires temporarily to achieve greatness seems right up his alley. Graves would add personality and swagger to the Shield, while giving them another agile component: everyone would benefit.
Chances: 20 percent
Kofi is in desperate need of being repackaged and this is perfect. He's acrobatic, quick, fearless, possesses exceptional mic skills when enabled, and is a veteran that can help Shield progress even further. Putting Kofi with Reigns and Ambrose would reignite Kofi's career and keep the Shield in the crowd's good graces for some time.
Chances: 10 percent
With Dolph experiencing such an up-and-down career, having him join the Shield would shock the WWE Universe just as much as Rollins leaving, making for great TV. He's the best seller the company has and is physically gifted, much like Rollins. If WWE wants the Shield to break down every wall imaginable, the "Show Stealer" would be the perfect candidate.
Chances: 25 percent
The undisputed face of NXT has been waiting for the right opportunity to join the main roster. While he has a little too much of a positive vibe, maybe that's what the Batman-like seriousness of the Shield needs. He would instantly get every NXT fan to truly pay attention to the big leagues, while providing that death defying flair and relentlessness the Shield seems to require. This pairing would make everyone shine.
Chances: 10 percent
After being out for over two years due to injury, Bourne has been cleared for months and with no sure creative plan in place, he's remained on the sidelines. This would get him back in the game more than ever before. He's probably the second-best high flyer in the company and will do anything to give the audience the jolt of energy only he can provide. If they want a high-flyer, look no further.
Chances: five percent
I don't have this as the likeliest in terms of numbers because I hope this isn't the road they travel down. The Shield dominated because of their power in numbers, belief in each other, and having a well-rounded team. I would hope they wouldn't just leave these two alone, destined to get beaten down at every turn, until Ambrose turns on Reigns too because he just can't take it anymore.
Chances: five percent (but probably 100 percent)
