After several weeks of speculation regarding Daniel Bryan‘s status following neck surgery, it appears WWE fans may finally have a clue as to what the future holds for the current world champion.
SEScoops is reporting that Bryan has not been medically cleared to compete at Money in the Bank 2014. If this is indeed the case, it likely means that Bryan will hand over the world title on tonight’s episode of Raw.
This whole thing has been drug out for weeks now, and WWE has little time left to build for MITB. Because of this fact, it’s hard to see some kind of announcement regarding the title not taking place on tonight’s Raw.
It’s likely that Bryan will get stripped of the title by Stephanie McMahon, instead of him handing over the belt. It would help build more heat on Stephanie and The Authority, while adding to the notion that Bryan is being screwed over. But at the same time, he could ‘do the right thing’ and hand it over without a fight. Either story will work.
Whatever happens, it could mean the end of Bryan on television for awhile. It’s being said that his recovery is not exactly going smoothly and that there’s currently no timetable for his return. When it comes to a neck injury, there’s certainly no reason to rush a return.
Fans should now look for the pieces of the MITB match to be put together this week and next via qualifying matches. The world title now figures to be on the line for the first time in the event’s history.
