Winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title should be a huge thing. Daniel Bryan‘s reign however, was nothing to celebrate.

This isn’t Bryan’s fault; it’s just he suffered bad luck ever since he became WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Bryan was on top of the world at WrestleMania XXX, but things started to get worse after that. First off, he took one week off to go on his honeymoon with Brie Bella. Raw was centered around other storylines while he was gone. A short time after that, he took some time off after his dad tragically died. He would wrestle Kane at Extreme Rules in an entertaining match. This was the only spark in his reign.

After Extreme Rules, his feud was horribly booked. Kane started stalking Bella like a B-horror movie. Bryan (as champion) acted weak, often running away from Kane while protecting his wife. It felt like the title didn’t matter as Bella was the main focus of the storyline.

The storyline was cut short as Bryan got injured and needed surgery. He was to forfeit the title at the Payback PPV, but he refused to do so. This is because the WWE thought he’d be ready to return to action soon. In the end, the WWE had to strip him of the title as he’d be out longer than anticipated.

Bryan really didn’t do much as champion as he needed to take a lot of time off. Hopefully Bryan gets better and will get the title again so he can have a proper run.
