WWE Battleground Is A Throwaway PPV

SummerSlam is just around the corner, but the WWE still has the Battleground PPV. This seems like a pointless PPV to have.

The Money in the Bank PPV provided us proof that the SummerSlam main event has already been set in stone. John Cena is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He will go up against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam with the title on the line. It’s a big match, despite how unpopular Cena may be to many fans. SummerSlam will be their only third-ever encounter on PPV. They are even with one victory each.

It’s also worth mentioning SummerSlam posters have already been made with Cena and Lesnar’s faces. However, it was announced on Raw Cena would defend his title in a Fatal 4 Way. The men he will face are Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns.

As for Reigns, it has been teased he will face Triple H at SummerSlam. Triple H has been wanting to groom Reigns as the next big star. Facing Reigns and putting him over at SummerSlam is a good way to start Reigns’ main event ascension.

With Cena facing Lesnar and Reigns facing Triple H at SummerSlam, it seems pointless to have Battleground in the middle. Cena is obviously going to retain his title in the Fatal 4 Way. It’s likely Triple H will interfere in the match to prevent Reigns from winning.

I know WWE stages PPV events every month, but Battleground seems unnecessary to have this year. The main event is predictable thanks to SummerSlam plans being leaked.
