What's Left For John Cena To Accomplish?

John Cena has accomplished pretty much everything there is to do in WWE. What else is there for him to do?

When Cena beat The Rock last year at WrestleMania 29, I naively thought this was the last great thing Cena had to do. Before that victory least year, Cena’s done everything there is to do in wrestling. He’s been in the main event of WrestleMania many times, won the Royal Rumble twice, won Money in the Bank and beaten some of the most famous wrestlers in the business. One would think it was about time Cena would change, but he’s still stayed the same and still dominating.

For over nine years, Cena has been the top babyface of the company. It looks like he’s never going to change, but this has made the product stale and boring for a number of older fans. Even Hulk Hogan had the courage to turn heel in WCW to refresh his character. How much longer are fans going to accept this? Some WWE fans are even saying TNA is better since they’ve had new champions and stars recently. As for WWE, Daniel Bryan’s injury just allowed Cena to become top dog again.

I’m hoping 2015 will be the real year Cena passes the torch as it’s about time WWE finds a new babyface star. That someone should be Roman Reigns in my opinion. People thought 2014 was the year of new faces, but Cena’s victory at Money in the Bank ruined that for everyone. Not to mention 2K Sports put him on the cover for WWE 2K15. Another sign WWE is still hesitant to push new stars. If Cena puts over Reigns next year at WrestleMania 31, it could usher in a new era in the professional wrestling business.

Let’s imagine if WWE did the same thing in the ’90s. What if Stone Cold Steve Austin was pushed all the time? Would The Rock and Mankind have ever won the WWE Title? If that happened, The Rock may have not been as famous as he is today if Austin was pushed the same way as Cena is today. Mankind may have not even been as popular too. Not to mention Kurt Angle and even Triple H prospered during this era.

It’s unlikely Cena will walk away from WWE as he loves this business. I’m just saying, Cena’s character needs a change or he needs step away from the main event scene for a while. It’s getting very boring seeing him win all the time. It’s long overdue someone new becomes the legit true face of WWE.
