Superstar CM Punk quit the WWE, although that was seven months ago. Next week is the day when his contract finally expires.
To be exact, Punk’s current contract expires on July 17. Nobody really knows what Punk is going to do next. When Punk quit the WWE abruptly in January, it arguably made more headlines than the WWE Network launch and WrestleMania XXX this year. Seven months later, nobody has any answers as to why he really quit in the first place.
There was a report earlier this year that the WWE could extend his contract for a few months to prevent him from wrestling elsewhere so soon. This is because Punk missed seven months of work and the WWE is allowed to extend contracts if a wrestlers missed that much time due to injury. In Punk’s case, he just upped and left.
As for right now though, nobody knows what Punk is really going to do next. He’s just been hanging out at home and attending many sports events lately. He did marry AJ Lee recently, but she’s back wrestling in the WWE now. Will Punk consider coming back? Maybe, but I don’t think he’s in a rush to go back just yet.
Another funny thing about Punk is that he doesn’t have many career options. He didn’t attend college as he was a professional wrestler after leaving high school. He’s not a musician like Chris Jericho, so I don’t think he will join a band. Punk doesn’t like the limelight too much, so he’s not going to Hollywood like Batista and The Rock.
July 17 will be an interesting date to look out for. Many people want to know what’s he going to do next. He has enough money to retire early, but wouldn’t he get bored?
