Daniel Bryan‘s injury may have been a curse as it seems WWE is now trying to forget about him.
Every year, WWE usually shows highlights for WrestleMania in a free to air special on NBC. Most of the time, the main event match is shown, plus other big time matches. This year, however, WrestleMania XXX’s NBC special doesn’t include any of the two matches Bryan was in.
Bryan wrestled in two long and grueling matches at WrestleMania XXX. He beat Triple H in a long 25-minute match and then went on to face Randy Orton and Batista in the main event. Bryan was successful and capped off WrestleMania on a high note.
The edited NBC special of WrestleMania XXX that airs in August only includes two matches and one segment. The segment included is the beginning that included Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The two matches being shown are John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt and Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.
It sounds to me like WWE doesn’t think Bryan appeals to casual wrestling fans. All of the guys featured here are old wrestlers. The only young star being featured is Wyatt since he faced off with Cena.
I’m not sure if WWE is snubbing Bryan on purpose, or if they are persuading people to buy the DVD or get the WWE Network instead. Leaving the main event off will force people to buy the WrestleMania XXX DVD or get the WWE Network to see Bryan’s matches.
I still feel WWE thinks Bryan is not mainstream enough to appeal to a wider audience. After all, they put the WWE World Heavyweight Title on Cena due to Bryan’s absence.
