WWE Battleground 2014: John Cena Will Defend Title, Stick It to the Authority
The pay-per-view Battleground is coming very soon, this Sunday actually, and after John Cena won the World Heavyweight title, he was given an ultimatum: play ball or take the hard way out. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were not joking around when proposing the ultimatum. Cena took the hard way and Triple H proposed a fatal four-way match between Cena, Roman Reigns, Kane and Randy Orton.
Three of those WWE superstars have been there before and have participated in many brutal matches. Reigns is the outlier. Recently, Reigns was forced out of “The Shield” by Triple H and crew and is now his own entity. Reigns is easily one of the best up-and-coming superstars in WWE and has a decent chance at winning the World Heavyweight title.
Kane and Orton are part of the authority and are Triple H’s lapdogs. Whatever Triple H wants, Orton and Kane will abide. Both have experience in this type of match and have been put through the ringer before, so that easily gives Orton and Kane an advantage.
However, Cena will be headlining SummerSlam with Brock Lesnar, so wouldn’t be odd if Cena walked into SummerSlam without a title to defend? Cena has to win, right? Everything is in his favor. Cena, once the greatest wrestler in the world, faded out of the spotlight when CM Punk completely dominated Cena in every aspect and match between the two. Cena came back into the spotlight by winning the World Heavyweight Championship at the Money in the Bank ladder match and will look to hold onto that title as long as possible. Because of all this, Cena will win the fatal four-way match and head into SummerSlam to defend the title against Lesnar.
