Sting's 5 Possible Opponents in His WWE Debut

With Sting's appearance now advertised in the next WWE video game, the next logical step to think about is whether he will actually get into a WWE ring for the first time in the near future. Maybe not soon, but if he can get into/stay in shape, it'd be wise to expect Sting at WrestleMania XXXI. He has stated in a recent Grantland interview that he only wants one more match. Here are five possible opponents.

There isn't a seniors tour in the WWE, but a Sting-Flair match would be a decent short match on Raw to help introduce Sting and give Flair one final run out if he really wants it (and WWE doesn't seem to have anything else for him to do right now). The two had some of WCW's best matches, and given just a few minutes, it would be a nice throwback for many wrestling fans.

Another pre-WrestleMania match that Sting could consider is against none other than Vincent Kennedy McMahon himself. Many feel it is McMahon's fault that Sting was never in WWE for all these years, so now that he potentially will be, a "revenge" match with McMahon would probably end up being more comedy than substance. But WWE fans love seeing The Boss get humiliated.

While Sting appears set to appear in WWE at some point, many believe we are going to see Kurt Angle make one final WWE run in the not-to-distant future. Now serving as the on-screen GM for TNA, Angle surely will want some more big matches once he's fully healthy again, and WWE is the only place he'll get that. He'd be comfortable working with Sting, a former TNA guy, as well, and they could produce a quality match in a one-off situation.

If a legend like Sting is going to debut in WWE, who better than the man who calls himself the "Legend Killer", Randy Orton, to be in the opposite corner of the ring to face Sting in his debut match? This could be a PPV-quality match, given that Orton doesn't particularly go through his typical offense at a fast pace and he and Sting could probably combine well together. Orton is enough of a heel now that he could be a believable threat to Sting.

If Sting has his way, his last match will be against The Undertaker at the next WrestleMania. Some of the potential shine of that match has been removed with Undertaker's 21-match winning streak at WrestleMania being broken by Brock Lesnar this past April. Plus, there's the whole consideration as to whether Undertaker is even going to wrestle again. But this match would be Sting's biggest possible revenue draw in his WWE debut.
