What a year 2014 has been for the WWE. We have seen one of the biggest stars quit the company. A revolution took over Wrestlemania. The WWE Network became a reality, and it was even more awesome than we could have hoped. Thursday nights have been taken over by the young guns of NXT. We also saw the end of the greatest streak in wrestling history. We have the stars to thank for the year so far. These are the 25 best WWE wrestlers of 2014.

25. C.M. Punk

No matter what you say about C.M. Punk, he deserves to be on the list. Why? Because ever since he left the company on the night after the Royal Rumble in January, every dirt sheet, news source and fan of the WWE cannot stop talking about him. There are still chants at every event. There are paparazzi who follow him, seeing if he is doing anything to give us clues of if he will return. Punk quit, but he is still the best storyline going.

24. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio has fallen far from being a former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion in the company. He is currently toiling in the mid-card, only being used to job to the top superstars. He is still putting on decent matches, but his character has been awful.

23. Jack Swagger

Jack Swagger looked rough for most of the year, but there are times he really peaked our interest. He was part of one of the more popular tag teams to start the year. After that, he was another man in that mid-card that seemed lost. That is, until he started his rivalry with Rusev and Lana. As long as Zeb Colter stays as his mouthpiece, he could see new heights.

22. Ryback

Ryback is another story of someone falling far from the main event picture. He has shown some of his true personality, and he is genuinely funny. It seems like he is being misused, being stuck with an underachiever in Curtis Axel. If only WWE creative saw how good Ryback did on commentary earlier in the year, maybe they could give him a mic and see what happens.

21. Paige

Paige didn't make her debut on the big show until the night after Wrestlemania, but what a debut she made. She was a surprise appearance on Raw and she won an impromptu match with A.J. Lee. She ended her record breaking title reign, something nobody else got close to. She is now in a feud that could be the best we've seen since the days of Trish Stratus and Lita.

20. Triple H

Triple H didn't have many matches in 2014, but he hasn't had a bad one all year. He was part of the reincarnation of Evolution, which had two amazing matches with the Shield. He also took on Daniel Bryan to start off Wrestlemania. In between his in ring work, he has been great as the Authority head along with his wife Stephanie McMahon.

19. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston started off the year in a bad spot. He was being left off PPV cards and had to be part of the pre-show, which means you aren't worth any time. He now has had some big wins against Cesaro and is finally on a roll. This feud could project him back towards the top of the card if all goes well.

18. Heath Slater

If someone said that Heath Slater would even be on a list talking positively about wrestlers, most would laugh. Slater and his 3MB bandmates looked like they were finally hitting their stride. They were making the midget matches watchable with their involvement. They made their opponents look very good. Now he is trying to find his feet after his partners were let go.

17. Goldust

Since Goldust's return, he has looked better than he ever has in the ring. Everyone expected his run to end at Wrestlemania XXX, but he has been so good that it has been extended. The story keeps getting extended, which is fine by almost everyone. He keeps reinventing himself. He and Cody made the tag team division relevant again.

16. The Usos

Speaking of the tag team division, the Usos finally had their breakout year in 2014. They won their first tag team titles when the beat the New Age Outlaws on Raw. They have defeated the Real Americans, the Wyatt Family and Rybaxel, including winning a Fatal Four Way match at Wrestlemania. They are currently the champions, and expect to continue.

15. Batista

Batista started off as one of the worst returns in history. He was sluggish at best in the ring, and was terrible as a babyface. He won the Royal Rumble to a chorus of boos. He looked like he was coughing up a lung by the end of every match. He finally caught his breath and turned heel, which made all the sense in the world. After that, he actually put on a few really good matches. His heel promos sounded like they did when he was champ.

14. Luke Harper

Luke Harper has put on some of the best showings we have seen all year. He is surprisingly agile for his size. He has a sadistic look. He can sell very well most of the time. His matches are now must watch, whether Luke Harper is his partner or it is a singles bout.

13. Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett went from being the giver of bad news on a broken podium to the Intercontinental Champion seemingly overnight. His character was as good as it has ever been. His matches were great no matter who his opponent was. Now, unfortunately, he will be out with a shoulder injury for the foreseeable future.

12. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has been on another level with his new Stardust character. He looked like he was ready to turn on Goldust any minute, but he continues to make the gimmick something we need to see. This is a true sign that the WWE does know how to keep us guessing at times. He is just as bizarre as Goldust, which is truly saying something.

11. A.J. Lee

A.J. Lee would have been even higher on this list had she not taken time off to marry C.M. Punk. She has dominated every feud she has been a part of. She was the longest reigning Divas Champion in history. Even more impressive, she made the Divas division go from a bathroom break to must-see TV. She deserves a spot high on here for that.

10. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins was part of one of the best factions in WWE history. He was the man who ended that when he smacked Roman Reigns in the back with a chair. Since then, he joined the Authority and won Money in the Bank. It seems like Rollins could be in line for a bright future.

9. Randy Orton

Randy Orton took one of the most painful bumps at Wrestlemania when he was part of the Batista Bomb/RKO through the announce table on Daniel Bryan. His back landed square on a monitor, but he didn't take any time in the match off. He has been in the middle of the championship picture ever since, and looks like he hasn't forgotten his lines all year.

8. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has only had two matches all year long. How can he be in the top ten? He ended the Streak. The Undertaker's streak at Wrestlemania is no more after the biggest surprise in more than a decade happened. When Lesnar pinned Taker after a third F5, the Superdome was dead quiet. When you can make 60,000 people speechless, you make the top ten.

7. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler is still the best in ring performer in today's WWE. He needs work on his mic skills, but his in-ring work is untouchable. He makes every opponent look viable, even the Great Khali. He sells better than anyone, and he does it while seemingly getting no push. He has shown that last year's injuries were a fluke, so hopefully he gets pushed further up the card soon.

6. John Cena

Say what you want about John Cena, he is still one of the best in the business. Is his schtick older than Hogan's biceps? Yes. Does he have five moves of doom? Yes, but he still puts on a good show despite a split crowd. Unfortunately, we all wish he could lose a feud every once in a while.

5. Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose has been amazing in his promos and awesome in the ring. He has taken the midcard, and made it better than the main events at some shows. Now that he is away from the Shield, he is showing that he wasn't being hidden in the group. He was great in the Money in the Bank ladder match, and puts on a show every Raw and Smackdown he is asked to perform at.

4. Cesaro

Creative made the curious decision of taking Paul Heyman off of Cesaro without even a promo on TV. Either way, he has been great all year long. He took over the crowd with his giant swing. He looks like he is really taking someone's head off with that uppercut. He has been one of the best in the WWE all year long.

3. Roman Reigns

What can you say about what Roman Reigns has done this year? He broke Kane's record for eliminations at the Royal Rumble. He destroyed Kane and the New Age Outlaws at Wrestlemania with his Shield partners. Now, he is highlighting the main events for the WWE World Heavyweight title. He is truly on the way to being a top guy in the company. He is currently the No. 2 babyface already, and only going higher from there.

2. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt has been revolutionary in 2014. He has changed the way we look at faces and heels. He acts like he should be hated, but we can't help but love him. He made Cena matches look really good. He still has the match of the year in my opinion with Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble. Even though it seems like creative wants to ruin him by losing every big match, he still projects himself with his amazing promos.

1. Daniel Bryan

It doesn't matter that Daniel Bryan has missed so much time with a neck injury, he is the superstar of 2014 as of Battleground. The performance at every single event is jaw dropping. He has the best chant, possibly, of all time. The YES chant has become a part of pop culture. His look makes anyone feel like they are capable of being superstars. He has broken ground, and he can't come back soon enough.
