Three Legends Scheduled to Kick Off RAW

Hall of Famers

Hulk Hogan, HBK and Ric Flair – @WWEUniverse

Three WWE Hall of Fame wrestlers are set to appear on the August 25 episode of Monday Night Raw. Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan will kick off the show by doing a special  panel segment. The former grapplers are set to discuss the upcoming rematch between Brock Lesnar and John Cena at Night of Champions for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The WWE rarely does anything without attempting to further an angle, whether they be successful or not. It’s hard to hypothesize what will come from this segment Monday night. During Hulk Hogan’s birthday party on the go-home to Summerslam edition of Raw, Brock Lesnar had a, reported, off-script exchange with Hogan exclaiming: “Party’s over Grandpa.” Hogan is known to be sensitive, mostly about his baldness, so he wasn’t going to let that go. During promotional appearances leading up to Summerslam, Hogan discussed his displeasure with Brock’s words; even stating in one interview he’d love to take on the new champion. Thankfully, the WWE medical staff would probably not clear Hogan for such a contest. The last time a veteran superstar stepped into the ring with Brock Lesnar, he ended up going to the hospital. The Undertaker hasn’t been seen since. One stiff German Suplex would knock all the spray tan off the Hulkster.

Ric Flair has been used exclusively in pre-show and panel type situations since his return. Before he appeared back on television, it was reported he was going to be a manager for either Dolph Ziggler or The Miz. Apparently, they called an audible on Flair in a managerial role. He was shown backstage giving the “rub” to Ziggler last week on Raw, so something may be slowly brewing.

The opening segment to RAW this week is in good hands. When Flair, Hogan, and the Heartbreak Kid are in the ring together, it’s bound to be entertaining. Let’s just hope the rest of the show is dedicated to building new Hall of Fame wrestlers.
