WWE Raw Predictions (9/22): Night Of Champions Fallout

Last night was Night Of Champions, which turned out to be a more solid PPV than I expected. While there were a few matches that could have gone better, and the ending certainly could have been a little more definitive, it was good overall.

The ending is what brings us to tonight, because that should be the primary focus going into Raw.

The tag team belts switched hands, from The Usos to The Dust Brothers, which means either a continued feud between those two groups or  Big Show/Mark Henry going after them. Henry was supposed to handle Rusev last night and then rejoin his partner; but sadly lost to The Bulgarian Brute, which could mean the continuation of the feud lest Henry throws in the towel and joins Big Show in pursuit of the belts. I have no clue, but I’m hoping that he won’t continue battling with Rusev.

What would the former mean for the tag division? It means the two biggest athletes in the sport are joining forces in an effort to run roughshod over everyone else … until The Ascension unleash The Fall Of Man on them that is.

The Diva’s Championship also switched back to AJ Lee, something that came as a bit of a surprise considering who was involved. While AJ is easily at the top of the division, they’ve been building up Paige to be capable of running things. So now that AJ has the belt again, what does that mean for the other two? Paige will likely continue going after it, but Stephanie will see that Nikki isn’t the one she needs on the side of The Authority – Charlotte is.

I can almost see Charlotte making that kind of an entrance tonight, especially if the “Next Generation” rumor turns out to mean something other than the WWE 2k15 video game.

Dolph Ziggler should be contending to get the Intercontinental Championship back from The Miz, and Sheamus will probably keep defending the US Title against Cesaro until they figure out what to do with those two.

That brings us to the biggest things of note: that “Next Generation” rumor and Seth Rollins interrupting and attacking John Cena/Brock Lesnar at NOC. I’m still holding out hope that the NXT makes an effort to take over Raw and the WWE as a whole tonight, but I’m not holding my breath. The main roster needs an influx of top-level talent, and NXT is the place to get it from, so keep your fingers crossed that we see some new(ish) faces tonight.

What happens now with Rollins, Cena and Lesnar? Cena should have a match with Rollins tonight, screaming about how Rollins screwed him out of the title because Lesnar was going to tap; then, Paul Heyman and Lesnar will vehemently disagree with that statement, along with issuing the threat to Rollins that The Beast Incarnate will get to him eventually.

Rollins put himself in a great position last night. Because he’s continuing his feud with Dean Ambrose, he’ll likely get one with Cena very as and Lesnar now has Rollins on his radar. This segment should steal the show, and Rollins will be its centerpiece.
