Roman Reigns Should Return To Action At Royal Rumble

Tonight on WWE, in an interview with Michael ColeRoman Reigns addressed the WWE Universe with an update on his current injury situation. His whole interview lasted about three minutes and was as generic as possible. He told the WWE universe nothing that was actually worth noting. While he did not say when exactly he would return (which is what fans really want to hear), we can begin some speculation. I am predicting Reigns to be out for a couple more months, allowing for a return either at TLC or the Royal Rumble.

While may fans — myself included — feel Reigns being injured is best for his career, it’s also best for the current storylines. With the main event picture containing John Cena and Seth Rollins and the continuing feud of Rollins and Dean Ambrose, there is no room to work Reigns into the main event picture right now; at least not without looking forced. I understand that WWE wants to pull the trigger on him and make him the next top guy after Cena. My problem is that by forcing Reigns down everyone’s throat, he may not be as over with the fans as WWE may like.

Another problem with Reigns that may hold him back is his lack of mic skills. If you listen to Cena or even Ambrose cut a promo, you can hear how they captivate the audience; how every word comes from the heart and flows smoothly. Switch over to a Roman Reigns promo — it consists of force-fed words and artificial heart; almost as if he is reading from a script.

The move-set of Reigns will increase over time and if given the WWE Championship,he certainly will shine. A victory over current champion Brock Lesnar would make Reigns a legitimate champion right out of the gate. But time will only tell if Reigns can be a dominant champion as Lesnar has been. It will be interesting to see how WWE books Reigns coming off his injury.

I predict a return at the Royal Rumble for Reigns, where he will win and face current champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania; and beat him — believe that.
