Daniel Bryan Potentially Needing Tommy John Surgery Wouldn’t Be Terrible

From a “B+ player” to headlining WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan‘s WWE career has not been an easy one, and it looks like it will stay that way. Multiple sources indicate that Bryan made need to have Tommy John surgery to repair his UCL.

This procedure is done all the time in sports and is generally a safe one, but recovery time is a lengthy one, 6-12 months to be exact. With Bryan already having missed five months, this surgery would set him back at least until WrestleMania and even that would be impressive. How this will affect the current product is up for debate.

For one, this would eliminate all speculation of Bryan coming back at this year’s Royal Rumble. We all saw what the crowd did to Rey Mysterio after he came out No. 30 instead of Bryan; I can only imagine what a feisty Philadelphia crowd will do to the last entrant this year. If the rumors hold true about this surgery, Bryan’s wrestling future will be in jeopardy since he has not been able to wrestle in months. I feel regardless of how long he is out, Bryan will return better than ever.

One positive to take from this is that Bryan will not be rushed back to the WWE due to the extra period of rest. He will certainly come back at full form ready to challenge for the coveted WWE World Heavyweight Chamionship yet again. While he is gone, it gives other superstars some extra television time as well as greater opportunities. For all we know, if Daniel Bryan was in action today, we would not have been given the magical feud of Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

No matter how long Bryan is out, one thing is for sure: the WWE is in good hands while he is gone. With a stacked roster, RAW and Smackdown! will continue to be great even without one of wrestling’s top superstars. When he does return, all fans will welcome him with open arms as he “YES’s” his way back to the top.
