Vaudevillains 2

The most recent episode of NXT included several current and former members of the WWE's main roster. Many young NXT competitors continued to improve their stock, while one veteran continued his slide down the ladder. Here's who's up and who's down in NXT.

After dismantling Mojo Rawley in a pair of matches earlier in the fall, Bull Dempsey has been relatively inactive on NXT. He returned last week, however, and soundly defeated Justin Gabriel. Although Baron Corbin has seemingly taken Dempsey’s spot as a top dismantling force in NXT, Bull’s latest victory indicates that he could still be moving up the ladder.

A former mainstay on the main roster and multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion, Justin Gabriel followed Tyson Kidd’s path as he looked to re-establish himself in the developmental organization of NXT. While Kidd has enjoyed marquee storylines and matches, Gabriel has been a nonfactor, as he’s flopped back and forth between being a face and a heel, and has enjoyed minimal success in the process. His latest setback to Dempsey makes his outlook bleaker.

Two weeks, two victories for NXT’s newest diva. The princess of Staten Island had a much more credible opponent this time around, as she bested main-roster diva Emma. Carmella has been impressive in the ring, especially with her unique headscissors submission hold. She also showed her skills on the mic this past week, and coined a catchphrase “Bada bing, hottest chick in the ring.”

The French superstar squared off against his former teammate and friend Sylvester Lefort, and Marcus Louis scored a dominant victory. Louis is now firmly carving a path as a singles competitor, and his repulsive appearance could ultimately prove to be an asset in his career.

The rise of Aiden English and Simon Gotch continues, as the team collectively known as the Vaudevillains prevailed in a five-team battle royal to become the No. 1 contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Seemingly every week, the Vaudevillains garner a bigger reaction from the audience, and their in-ring performances continue to improve as well. This team is quickly staking claim to being the top tandem in NXT.
