2014 marked an incredible year for NXT, as the promotion reached new heights. As a result, many of the superstars and divas made significant progress in their development. An influx of new talent, though, pushed other competitors down the totem pole. Of the superstars and divas who competed in NXT for all of 2014, here's who trended up and who trended down for the year.

Banks began the year under the radar, but now she can stake her claim as arguably the best diva in the company. Following the graduations of Emma and Paige, Banks was given her opportunity for a marquee storyline and made the most of it. She has always possessed charisma and a great look, but her in-ring skills are now top notch as well. Her match against Charlotte at Takeover: R Evolution was perhaps the best divas contest of 2014.

4. Bayley - Down

Bayley has been a victim of the incredible depth of the NXT women's division, as she's fallen out of the title picture as others have risen. Bayley failed to knock off Charlotte in her title bout, and since then, she's endured a lengthy skid. Sasha Banks has seemingly surpassed Bayley, and Becky Lynch could do the same in the near future.

3. Mojo Rawley - Down

Rawley still has time to rebound, but there's no doubt that his stock declined considerably throughout the year. The former NFL player was a key figure in NXT to start 2014, but his hyped-up personality fell out of favor with the fans, and he hasn't developed the requisite skills in the ring. Rawley could regain some momentum with a new character, but he needs to improve in other areas to remain in the company's plans.

2. CJ Parker - Down

Parker began the year as a credible fan favor, and ended it as a villain who wasn't even a threat to win matches. After transitioning from the moonchild to a smug environmentalist, Parker fell out of favor with the fans and creative team alike. He spent the final months of the year losing to new talent. After many of those newcomers have already surpassed Parker in NXT, it's hard to imagine he will ever regain his spot from early 2014.

Neville began 2014 as a rising talent who appeared poised to challenge the NXT Champion, and he concluded it as the longest-reigning champion in company history -- and arguably its biggest star. He became the man after knocking off Bo Dallas at NXT Arrival, and his title run featured an array of thrilling contests. Although he lost his championship earlier this month, he could soon be heading to the main roster thanks to an incredible 2014.
