WWE Royal Rumble 2015: Mizdow Will Become Sandow

This Sunday night, the WWE Tag Team Championship will be on the line as The Usos defend the belts against The Miz and Damien Mizdow. When they lost the titles in the first place, a breakup was teased, but the team stuck together and Mizdow has continued to be absolutely golden every time he is on screen. He has been getting over to a level that WWE probably never imagined would happen; in fact, they likely expected the addition of Mizdow to go unnoticed and just make Miz come across even more so as the Hollywood A-lister they are having him portray himself to be.

Instead of ignoring the fact that a supremely talented man was being given a faceless role and hating The Miz even more because of it, the audience decided that they, and this will come as a shock, enjoy being entertained. So they reacted positively to the faceless stunt double and have turned him into the star of the group, an irony that is surely lost on Vince McMahon.

The team now has a high-profile title opportunity on the first pay-per-view event of the year and it feels like the perfect time for the stunt double to break away from his star. The Miz is pinned by Jimmy Uso to wrap up the go-nowhere Naomi story once and for all and then he blames Mizdow for the loss. He pushes him. The crowd boos. Miz slaps him. The crowd boos louder. Mizdow has finally had enough. He pushes The Miz back, and when Miz tries to retaliate, he hits him with his neckbreaker and then completes the transformation back to being Damien Sandow by nailing the Elbow of Disdain to the crowd’s roaring approval.

Give him the victory in a one-on-one match at the Fast Lane PPV event in February and then you have a hot new babyface set up to challenge Bad News Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31.
