Ryback’s New Attitude May Lead To A Match With Goldberg At WrestleMania

Last Sunday night at WWE Fastlane, Ryback led his team to a surprising victory over The Wyatt Family. When the rematch happened the following night on RAW, he decided that his best course of action would be to walk out, leaving his partners Kane and The Big Show to be slaughtered by Bray Wyatt and his goon squad. In a brief backstage interview, Ryback revealed that he is tired of being just another guy in the crowd and always being held back by being booked as part of a team.

A few weeks ago Ryback ditched the Rob Van Dam style singlet and went back to his Skip Sheffield era trunks and boots. Nothing fancy, just a bald dude in black. In a mere matter of seconds the viewing audience in attendance caught on to his renewed resemblance to one Bill Goldberg, and suddenly the chants (while not nearly as prevalent as before) returned. It would have subsided fairly quickly with a sustained babyface push (if done better than his initial run at the top of the card), but if Ryback is set to be turning to the side of the bad guys then those chants may pick up some steam. That may be exactly what WWE wants.

There have been ongoing rumors that WWE has wanted to get Goldberg involved in WrestleMania multiple times over the past few years but it continues to be refuted by Goldberg himself, saying that he has not been contacted about an appearance in some time. With a lot of guys these days completely refuting a claim such as this means that they will be returning sooner rather than later. That has not yet been the case with Goldberg, and this year may not be any different. He has said that WWE has not contacted him to be a part of WrestleMania and the usual suspects are reporting the same.

But what if this year is different? Maybe WWE has regained their interest in Ryback and the former WCW Heavyweight Champion has decided that this year is the right time to make one final stand? If Shane McMahon of all people can come back, there is surely a price and a story that could get Goldberg on board for a match against Ryback at WrestleMania.

This is the year that Vince McMahon is claiming that the creativity is flowing and that big things are going to happen in order to combat all of the losses due to injuries. It would be a surprise to see Goldberg back on WWE television, but would it actually be shocking?

As they used to say, anything can happen in WWE.
