TNA Is Not Up For Sale, But They Should Be

TNA appears to have found themselves on fairly solid footing with their new home on POP. Instead of being content to have a new home that is supportive, Dixie Carter seems to want it all, and she wants it now. The recent hubbub from the Carter camp is that Panda Energy, outside of being the parent company, is pretty much not associated with TNA outside of whatever legal pieces of paper have Mr. and Mrs. Carter’s names on them. Daddy Bob Carter bought his daughter her toy and paid for it for years, and it seems Dixie was finally able to get it out of layaway. Problem for her is that she has no idea how to handle the situation.

The reports are stating that Dixie wants to “be a player” in the business. That means that she just hasn’t learned from her mistakes. At this point it seems like they have the Mr. Burns syndrome that will keep TNA alive for years and years to come. It will feel like their demise is inevitable and somebody will keep them afloat. They will tread water for a while, try to expand, fail, get rescued and so on.

Why can’t TNA just embrace being an alternative? If they did that, maybe they would have actually seen legitimate growth.

There is no reason to believe that this time will be different. Some speculation says that Carter would be willing to sell TNA for a good enough offer, but former WWE back office lackey turned TNA back office lackey, John “Big” Gaburick says that isn’t the case. Chances are that he’s right, because Dixie Carter desperately wants to be a success in an industry that just doesn’t want her to be a part of it.

Impact Wrestling is so depressingly bland and drab that it’s nearly impossible to watch. It feels cold and lifeless. It’s not for lack of trying, it’s just that there’s nothing to get excited about. There’s no structure, no endgame, no reason to be enthusiastic.

There’s no brand value to TNA or Impact Wrestling in the United States. If anybody is willing to pony up money for it they better know a lot about how wrestling works and they better get a lot of control, because otherwise they are doomed to lose their investment.

Everybody would be better off if TNA was just sold, put into hibernation and then brought back with a sound game plan instead of whatever cockamamie scheme the flapper girl of professional wrestling has come up with this time.
