WWE WrestleMania 33 Will Be Headlined By The Shield If McMahon Is Smart

We are about to witness Roman Reigns compete for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the second year in a row at WrestleMania. Chances are that this time he’s actually going to win it and they are going to be done with the stupid back and forth struggle he has had and will get to keep the belt. Due to the aforementioned stupidity of the title situation from Survivor Series until now, Reigns could leave WrestleMania as a three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. That statistic alone explains a lot about why they are having difficulty getting the crowd to love him.

WWE hasn’t known how to use him to his best effectiveness since they broke up The Shield. We’re only a few months away from the two-year anniversary of Seth Rollins stabbing his brothers in the back. Both he and Dean Ambrose are getting the exact crowd responses that WWE wants, because despite some glaring missed opportunities, the two men are still generally being used very well. Reigns, on the other hand, has fallen behind the curve and it’s through very little fault of his own.

Reigns has become a main event level in-ring performer. He has a lot of work to do with his speaking skills, and WWE has not protected him in that respect. As recently stated, WWE made a step in the right direction on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. There’s still a long way to go, but if it’s done right (whether they go with a heel turn or not), then this time next year we will be talking about the excitement leading up to a Reigns title defense at WrestleMania in Orlando.

What are the odds that he will wrestle for the WWE title at three consecutive WrestleMania events? Pretty good. It’s truly 50/50 as to whether or he will be a good guy or bad guy. Will we finally get that Triple Threat match pitting the three former members of The Shield against each other? It feels like a strong possibility.

Here’s the scenario: Reigns becomes WWE World Heavyweight Champion next Sunday by defeating Triple H. The crowd doesn’t like it (understatement). He holds the belt for some time and they may try to keep him as a babyface, but eventually Rollins will return and unless he comes back as Triple H’s lackey (which he won’t), the crowd will go nuts for him.

Between Rollins and Ambrose, the crowd loves tw0-thirds of the former Shield team. Reigns doesn’t stand a chance. WWE finally turns him heel and he carries the belt all the way to next year’s WrestleMania, where he loses the title to either Rollins or Ambrose. This is a trio of men that can lead WWE into a prosperous and entertaining future. And there are a whole heck of a lot of other men and women to aid them in that quest.

WWE is in the absolute best situation they have ever been in with regards to the talent roster, both current and in development. Hopefully, it doesn’t take Vince McMahon being incapacitated and out of the picture for them to understand this and realize the insane potential.

And yes, I did just suggest that Reigns should hold the WWE Title for a year.

Ambrose went in as the underdog against the beast that is Lesnar, and he just didn't have enough in the end to emerge victorious.
