Samoa Joe Won NXT Title But Balor May Not Move To Main Roster

Samoa Joe ended the record-length reign of former NXT Champion Finn Balor this past Thursday night in a shocking moment at an NXT house show. This of course immediately led to the internet going crazy with the glee that a man who deserves the recognition got the belt, and the anticipation that a man expected to be on the main roster a long time ago will finally be making the trek to the big dance.

According to many of the regular news sources in the biz, Balor may be set to spend some more time in NXT. One would assume he would be attempting to win his title back from Joe and become the first two-time NXT Champion. The next Takeover event isn’t scheduled until June 8, which means the former leader of the Bullet Club would have to continue being part of the NXT universe for at least the next month and a half.

Of course pulling double duty isn’t unheard of. Kevin Owens, in fact, came up to the main roster while he was still the NXT Champion last May and held the belt all the way until he was unseated by none other than Finn Balor on the July 4th Beast In The East network special. Balor isn’t even champion, so a month on NXT TV which is all taped in advance anyway, while at the same time being featured on WWE TV, isn’t going to be a big deal. Apollo Crews’ last match on NXT just aired on Wednesday. He’s already been on the main roster for a few weeks. Sami Zayn debuted on RAW while still appearing on NXT and wrestled at both the NXT Takeover: Dallas event and WrestleMania on the same weekend.

Finn Balor is no longer NXT Champion. Long live Samoa Joe, the new king of NXT. You may want to start expecting the former Bullet Club leader to show up at Payback in Chicago.

Vince McMahon has reportedly wanted him since before WrestleMania and it feels inevitable that Finn Balor will join his former BizCliz mates sooner rather than later.
