As funny as it sounds, one of the biggest headlines heading into Week 2 of the 2011 NFL season involved the exchanged words between Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jason Hill and New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Hill had called Revis “overhyped” earlier in the week and if the score wasn’t painful enough to deal with–it was the Pro Bowl cornerback who received the last laugh considering Hill never even played.

Hill was inactive for the Jaguars 32-3 loss to the Jets on Sunday–which Revis couldn’t help but laugh about after the game. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Revis had some lovely advice for Hill and joked that he was “in tears” when finding out he wouldn’t receive the chance to prove to the wideout that he wasn’t overhyped.

Obviously, this was one of those situations that nobody really took serious considering the difference of impact Revis has made throughout his career compared to Hill. Despite catching four passes for 53 yards in Week 1, Hill had started just three games and caught 50 passes during his first five seasons in the NFL prior to 2011.

In other words–Hill never earned the right to call out Revis and made quite the fool of himself this past week for doing so.
