After Benching Kyle Orton in the Third Quarter, Are the Broncos Ready to Give Tim Tebow a Shot at Quarterback?
(Ron Chenoy/US PRESSWIRE)

After a disappointing 1-3 start to the season, fans have been anxiously waiting for the Denver Broncos to give Tim Tebow a chance at quarterback instead of Kyle Orton. If Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers is any indication of what’s in store–there may be a chance the Tebow era could be getting under way sooner rather than later in Denver.

Tebow entered the game in the third quarter against the Chargers after Orton–who completed just 6 of 13 passes for 34 yards and one interception–struggled once again for the Broncos. Denver was trailing 23-10 at the time and considering there was still plenty of time left in the game for a comeback–it’s difficult not to wonder if head coach John Fox is ready to give Tebow a chance to see what he can do.

Through the first five games, Orton has completed just 58.7 percent of his passes while throwing for 979 yards to go along with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. The starting job was obviously Orton’s to lose and considering how much the offense has struggled over the first five weeks of the season–it wouldn’t be a surprise if Fox decided to give Tebow a chance to prove himself in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins since the Broncos have the bye next weekend.

And if that fails to work–there’s always Brady Quinn waiting for another chance at a starting job.
