Report: Donovan McNabb’s Lack of Commitment to Vikings Played Role in Team Moving on With Christian Ponder

For those of you that were shocked about Leslie Frazier’s decision to start Christian Ponder at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings over Donovan McNabb–just wait until you read about this.

According to Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network via Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com, there were numerous reasons behind Frazier’s decision to bench McNabb on top of his poor statistics–such as the quarterback showing up late for meetings and practices. Lombardi also discussed how McNabb’s “lack of commitment” to the Vikings was starting to become obvious to some of the team’s veterans and they realized it was time for a change at quarterback–which is why the team is going with Christian Ponder in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.

Through six weeks, Minnesota is arguably one of the biggest disappointments after a 1-5 start and the offense has looked pathetic every week except for Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals–which really doesn’t say much. McNabb’s work ethic was criticized numerous times as a member of the Washington Redskins in 2010 and he seemed unhappy about being traded for the second time in two seasons before training camp a few months ago–so it’s difficult not to wonder if the McNabb realizes this is the beginning of the end as a starter in the NFL.
