Tim Tebow vs. Aaron Rodgers: Will Tebowing Become More Popular Than the Championship Belt Celebration?
Without even trying, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has started a new internet fad after helping his team overcome a 15-point deficit in the final minutes of the fourth quarter in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins–Tebowing.
Tebow has been seen on one knee numerous times throughout games to thank the man upstairs and now–fans are using the internet to follow the footsteps of the former Florida standout with this new Tebowing trend. Just like planking and owling, anyone is capable of Tebowing and the steps are easy as Sam Gardner of Fox Sports described in one of his recent articles.
1) Kneel anywhere. 2) Put your elbow on your knee. 3) Put your fist or forearm on your forehead. 4) Have someone take your photo. 5) Post the photo on the Internet.
The trend has become so popular, there’s even a website called Tebowing.com where fans can submit their own photos of the pose–which has taken the internet by storm. There’s no question the Tebowing phase will last for at least a few more weeks, but it’s debatable whether or not the pose is as popular of a trend as the “championship belt celebration” established by Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.
As everyone knows, Rodgers championship belt celebration after scoring touchdowns become quite the popular trend as well when the Packers made their Super Bowl run last season. A student would get an A+ on his math test–they would do the championship belt. The mailman would finish his route early–championship belt.
Yes, the championship belt can be applied to just about anything and once you try it for the first time–it’s safe to say the trend becomes addictive to use in everyday life. However, it’s debatable whether or not the popularity of the championship belt will be overtaken by this new trend of Tebowing–especially when you consider how popular planking and owling was.
So which trend do you think will end up being the most popular? The popularity of the championship belt celebration carried over from last season, but it looks like Tebowing is become just as popular of a trend–if not more–after seeing all of the photos submitted by fans on Tebowing.com.
