Report: Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Hit With $10,000 Fine From League
(Jim O'Connor/US PRESSWIRE)

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson pulled off one of the dumbest penalties in NFL history last weekend against the New York Giants when a 50-yard catch was called back after No. 10 taunted his opponent’s sideline following the play–which included tossing the football at one of the coaches. While Jackson and the Eagles were lucky the play didn’t have too much of an impact on the outcome of the game, the wideout’s pockets will still be a little lighter because of the incident.

According to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Jackson was hit with a $10,000 fine for the penalty. Giants defensive tackle Linval Joseph was also called for illegal use of the hands during the play, so the penalties offset one another–which means Jackson’s impressive 50-yard catch went for nothing.

For a player that has been upset over his contract situation for quite some time, wasting money for something like this is the last thing Jackson can afford to do. Next time he makes a big catch like this, maybe Jackson will be smarter about the whole thing and celebrate with his teammates instead of rubbing it in the face of his opponents.
