Packers WR Donald Driver Has No Plans For Retirement
Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers season came to an end early on Sunday after falling to the New York Giants in the Divisional Round of the 2012 NFL playoffs. While there are numerous changes expected to be made during the offseason from the Packers, there’s one thing the team will have to decide on–whether or not to keep wide receiver Donald Driver around.
According to Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com, Driver intends on playing for the 2012 season, but whether or not he’ll be in Green Bay is a different story. As Rosenthal points out, Driver is due $5 million in base salary for the 2012 season and considering all of the money invested in other wide receivers–$5 million is simply too much to spend on a veteran wideout like Driver.
Then again, considering Driver’s spent all 13 years of his career wearing green and yellow, it’s hard not to wonder whether or not both sides would be willing to negotiate a new deal to keep him around for a 14th season.
