After a day of rumors swirling, former San Diego Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson has signed a five-year, $55.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The full total of Jackson’s deal is $55,555,555 and includes $26 million worth of guaranteed money. Part of this guaranteed money includes a $2 million roster bonus for 2012 and a $11 million guaranteed salary for the 2012 season.

Jackson’s contract is front-loaded, with the guaranteed pay for the last two years of the contract being $9,777,778 and $9,777,777.

Vincent Jackson will be a great addition to a Tampa Bay team that needed another weapon for quarterback Josh Freeman. While Mike Williams and Kellen Winslow have been solid at times, Freeman has yet to have the luxury of a first-class weapon like Jackson.

It will be interesting to see how the Tampa Bay gameplan changes with his addition. Will the new coaching regime be willing to depart from the long-time run-first philosophy and open up the field to use Jackson to the best of his potential, or will it be a slower transition which will require Jackson to be more patient than he is accustomed?

Either way, look for Vincent Jackson to change the face of the Tampa Bay Bucs in due time. It’s a huge signing for a small market team that tends to fly under the radar.
