Peyton Manning is still in the process of deciding where he would like to take his talents for the 2012-2013 season but he can now add another pro to his pro/con list for the Denver Broncos.

Former Broncos quarterback Frank Tripucka wore the No. 18 during his playing days back in the early 1960′s when he was the first QB in club history. The number was then retired after Tripucka hung up his cleats for the final time but now he wants the jersey number to be available again for Manning to come to the Mile High City.

Tripucka is 84 years old but he said in a phone interview recently that he would be ok with letting Manning wear it if he decides to sign with Denver. Here’s what he told the Post and Courier newspaper:

“He should have it. Let’s give it to him.”

“He’s a great quarterback,” Tripucka said. “He gets the job done. That’s the important thing. As the quarterback, you’ve got to get the job done.”

After transitioning from coach to starting QB in 1960, Tripucka led the AFL in passing yards in its inaugural year throwing for 3,038 yards. Talk about making the most of an opportunity. Although he only played for three season he still remains one of the central quarterbacks in Broncos history.

Manning now has the blessing from two former Broncos greats to come play under center in Denver. John Elway and Tripucka both want him there, what other type of ringing endorsement does he need?
