Two-time Super Bowl champion and reigning Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning is scheduled to host Saturday Night Live on May 5th.

Though his brother Peyton Manning, newly signed quarterback of the Denver Broncos, has held the esteemed spot as host of the long-running comedy show, it will be Eli’s first time on the SNL stage.

Following not only his brother but other NFL quarterbacks such as Tom Brady, Fran Tarkenton, and Joe Montana, the New York Giants’ quarterback will be the fifth NFL QB to host the show.

The show’s host spot hasn’t been restricted to just NLF quarterbacks, however, as Deion Sanders, O.J. Simpson, Alex Karras, Walter Payton, and Carl Weathers (though better known for his role in Rocky as Apollo Creed than on the football field) have all hosted as well.

Not to put any added pressure on Eli, Peyton Manning’s SNL show was one of the best SNLs in many, many years as Eli watched from the audience.

Who can forget his classic United Way spot?

Saturday Night Live won’t be Eli’s television, debut, however, as both he and Peyton have appeared in many commercials together, including the following:

For years, Eli seemed to live in the shadow of his younger brother, but with his most recent Super Bowl victory, giving him one more than Peyton, the once-thought-to-be quieter and more reserved Manning brother seems to be stepping out on his own.

Now, let’s see how he perform as the host of Saturday Night Live.

After all, he has some pretty big shoes to fill; lucky for him, I am sure he’s used to it.
