Back in 2010, the Cincinnati Bengals signed Terrell Owens to give Carson Palmer another dangerous weapon to throw to on offense along with Chad Ochocinco and company. Despite a disappointing 4-12 finish to the regular season, Owens made a huge impact in the Bengals’ passing game (72 catches for 983 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games) and now–it looks like Palmer may be trying to secretly recruit the controversial wideout to the Oakland Raiders for the 2012 season.

Palmer invited Owens to workout with Darrius Heyward-Bey, David Ausberry and Eddie McGee in Southern California and praised the veteran for the influence he had on the younger guys. While this has obviously stirred up the rumor mill about Owens possibly ending up in Oakland, Palmer made it clear how this was nothing more than a friendly workout and in no way was he trying to recruit T.O. to join the team for the 2012 season–mainly because of roster space.

However, this story sounds all too familiar from 2010 when Palmer was spotted working out with Owens prior to training camp only to end up joining the Bengals a few days later. The Raiders have a handful of young talented receivers that may or may not make a huge impact in 2012 and Owens would certainly be a much better option than most wideouts already on the roster

Even if he failed to end up with a team last year, Owens has one of the best work ethics of any player in the NFL and appears to still have another solid year or two left in him when it comes to playing in the NFL. If Owens would be willing to put his pride aside and actually take a reasonable deal instead of demanding more money than he deserves–this may be a match made in heaven for the Raiders.

Plus, Palmer could use all of the help he can get in the passing game considering how much pressure he faces heading into next season.
