NFL Rumors: Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt Arrested for DUI…on a Military Base?
Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE

Reports out of Tennessee say that troubled Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt was arrested early this morning and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) while driving on Fort Campbell military base. According to the reports, Britt and Titans defensive back Tommie Campbell were with a female soldier and were driving her back onto the base when they were stopped.

If true, the arrest would be the eighth for Britt since entering the NFL in the 2009 draft as the Titans’ first-round draft choice (30th overall) out of Rutgers University.

Britt, recovering from off-season knee surgery, has had a string of run-ins with the law and the team, pushing the Titans’ patience and risking what might have been a productive, even stellar NFL career.

The Titans released a simple statement: “We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering more facts.”

Something happened, folks.

Even coming out of Rutgers there were hushed concerns that Britt had something of an attitude problem. Not necessarily as a player but as a citizen.

Among his past legal issues. He was arrested on April 12, 2011, following what was reported as a car chase with police. One of those charges was a felony, but the charges were later reduced when Britt plead guilty to careless driving. He was also charged with theft by deception in 2011.

Britt blew out his right knee early last season against the Denver Broncos and was placed on Injured Reserve. He recently underwent surgery on his left knee after two on the right.

In three seasons, Britt has 101 receptions, 1.765 yards and 15 touchdowns. He appeared in all 16 regular season games in his rookie season, 12 in 2010 and just three last season before he was hurt.

Britt has been a relative disappointment for Tennessee, the team’s patience growing thin. If this latest DUI story proves true, not only could the league suspend him, the Titans may have to do the same while pondering his future with the team, though he is signed at least through the 2013 season.
