Darren Sproles likely done with the San Diego Chargers

It appears that Chargers fans will not be seeing RB Darren Sproles on the field for San Diego next season. The reason? Too much money. In 2010, Sproles salary was a very high $7.28 million dollars. And while he is an effective player, that salary is simply too high for the Chargers organization.

The Chargers have said that they haven’t made up their mind as to whether or not to try to bring Sproles back at a lower price, but given the uncertainty surrounding the lack of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is significant doubt as to when the free agency period would start.

Running back is perhaps one of the easiest replaceable positions on the field. In next years draft, West Virgina University RB Noel Divine, a player similar to Sproles will be available if the Chargers are wanting to find another player of Sproles speed and stature. Effective running backs can also be found in the undrafted free agent ranks as well. This year the New Orleans Saints found RB Chris Ivory and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers found undrafted free agent RB LeGarrette Blount, who wound up the season rushing for over 1,000 yards.

Get rid of Nate Kaeding. He is terrible under pressure. Has cost the chargers going to superbowl three times

I completely agree with you. I am shocked that this topic of flat out consistent choking by Nate has not been brought up more often. We will never win it all with this guy. He has cost the Chargers big time in the playoffs since he has been on the team. There is too small a margin for winning in the NFL and he kills us with his under 40 yard playoff misses. Inexcusable for a perennial Pro Bowl Kicker during the regular season. No other word for it other than Choker!

Well geez, why don’t he Chargers look at the RB’s (as well as other players) out of Jackson State University and the rest of the SWAC. There are several damn good football players in the SWAC ta don’t get a chance because teams don’t want to even give them a shot.

Hell, the best damn Running Back in the NFL ever graduated from Jackson State University.

    Walter Payton Forever!!
