Considering how poorly they’ve played over the first two games of the season, the San Diego Chargers should have no problem against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Unfortunately, they’ll have to do it without one of their top players–tight end Antonio Gates.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Gates will not pay Sunday against the Chiefs due to his foot injury. Gates was ineffective against the New England Patriots last weekend after failing to record a single reception–but he did manage to catch eight passes for 74 yards from Philip Rivers in their home opener against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1.

Luckily, this may be the best week where the Chargers can afford to rest Gates considering the Chiefs have only scored 10 points this season and their defense has already surrendered 89 points.
