Are the 49ers interested in Leon Washington?

It is being reported that the 49ers are interested in Leon Washington. The 5’8 200 pound running back is a restricted free agent and has been tendered with a second round contract. That means if the 49ers do indeed sign him to an offer sheet, the Jets could match it, or the 49ers would have to give the Jets their second round draft pick in this years draft.
Leon Washington is a change of pace back that has some return ability. Its well known that the 49ers need a player like Washington. Last year the 49ers had one of the worst return units in the league, and Glenn Coffee never really got acclimated with the offense.
Washington could fill a need but a second round pick is too much to pay for him. He is only 27 but had is coming back from a compound leg fracture. Washington’s return skills are already declining, and with the injury we have to assume that he lost some speed.
Overall I wouldn’t like this move. It would mean that we don’t take C.J Spiller in the first. Also what about Jahvid Best or Jacoby Ford. Both of these guys will probably stick around until the 49th pick in the draft. (The pick they would have to give up for Washington.) I know that those guys both have questions, but they also have potential.
I hope that if the 49ers do go after Washington that they make a trade for him. Maybe offer a 3rd and next years 6th for him, because a 2nd is just plain too much for this guy.
It has also been reported that Tight End Chris Baker has scheduled a visit with the 49ers.
