San Francisco 49ers Inform Nate Clements he will be Released; Making Room for Nnamdi Asomugha?

Nate Clements has never lived up to the lucrative deal he signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and has been told today he will be released by the team.
One surprise today is that reports have surfaced indicating the 49ers are one of the major players for top free agent and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, and this move could be a way for them to make room for him.
The Jets and Texans are also in the mix for Asomugha
This move takes away $15 million of cap space, so even if they can’t agree to terms with Asomugha, it gives them freedom to get one of the other talented corners on the market.
