San Francisco 49ers Say Goodbye to Joe Nedney, Sign David Akers

The San Francisco 49ers have released Joe Nedney, their long time place kicker, and have replaced him with Pro Bowl kicker David Akers.

The Eagles were expected to let Akers go this off season, and they did just that.

Nedney played for the 49ers for six straight years and was great from short range, but he does not have as big a leg as Akers and has dealt with injuries over the past two seasons.

Akers is definitely an upgrade and a small step in the right direction for the 49ers to win their division.
